DNF about halfway. Sorry to my Silvia Moreno-Garcia-stanning friends, but I’m just not into her writing style.

Brilliant!! Another one that I want to take a critical analysis class about—the content is SO rich for discussion.

Not for me! I can appreciate the dark atmosphere, but I thought the writing was over the top (could be the translation, idk) and the fragmented stories didn’t make much sense as standalones or as a collective novel.

I’m not quite sure what audience this would work best for…it’s formatted for middle grade, but the content is super complex and involves business deals, politics, organized leagues and commissioners and boards, etc., etc. But it’s also written intentionally to explain these things to someone who may not have a lot of info. Anyway, this lack of clarity in terms of intended audience made the book feel kind of disjointed to me.

Maybe it’s better in Swedish LOL
