DNF around 100 pages. Bored out of my mind

DNF probably 75% in but I just can’t do it anymore…y’all know I looove superheroes but this is incomprehensible and boring and poorly written and BLAND where it’s like…..huh???? And it’s supposed to be satirical? Leave this one alone and read HENCH.

Take a break from dystopia with this brilliant, complex thriller. Set on a far-future intergalactic hospital where doctors and nurses of all sentient species work together to promote the collective health of all the universe's people, MACHINE offers a hopeful outlook for humanity. Main character Dr. Brookllyn Jens, a space EMT, believes wholeheartedly in the hospital's mission, so when mysterious AI glitches and bizarre cryochambers start piling up, her worldview is thrown a bit out of orbit. A delicious mix of hard sci-fi, medical drama, and thoughtful meditations on selflessness & purpose.

An adventure story—with a lot of silly words mixed in to evoke Roald Dahl or something—about being brave, making friends, trusting yourself, etc. Unfortunately, the world building & system of magic make very little sense, and there are quite a few lesson-moments thrown in and conveyed in this pseudo-profound style that I found irritating and kind of confusing (i.e. “That’s the thing about locked doors…you never quite know what is on the other side”).

Not my cuppa :/

I'm grateful to Austen for this story, because I love the adaptations that have come from it, but I just didn't really care for the original writing. I found it very unromantic, to be honest.

I really enjoyed the illustrations but had mixed feelings about the message. I’m not sure it’s appropriate to reinforce telling EVERYONE you meet that you love them immediately, or looking specifically for signs that everyone loves you back…
