2.5 stars, I think. Often slogging, occasionally brilliant and heart-searing. Weakest when it was a direct retelling, strongest when it was most original. Way, way, way longer than it needed to be.
A great reminder that kids (and adults) contain multitudes. Each of us can be more than one thing, at once! I think this would be a great read-aloud, especially with younger kids. There's so much goofiness and humor in the illustrations (plus roaring sound effects).
