How the Leopard Got His Claws chronicles the breakdown of peace and harmony in the forest kingdom triggered by a power struggle between the leopard and the dog.

Although the illustrations are absolutely GORGEOUS, I can’t look past this story’s narrative faults. Achebe’s/Iroaganachi’s writing did not particularly impress me—it was inconsistently formal, and the writers seemed to struggle in terms of adhering to the folktale format. I failed to understand the necessity of the intermittent songs within the story.

Additionally, it really bothered me that Achebe chose to adapt such a dark, grim story for a childhood audience. It’s violent, depressing, and it does NOT have a happy ending. As a kid I would have been traumatized by this book. Plus, it portrays dogs in a really nasty light.

(4 stars) That Millennium series thing when all of a sudden you hit a point after which you absolutely cannot stop reading......,,

A bit confused by the ending but ultimately really really enjoyed this one

Sooo mid. Anything can be a quick read when you read it quickly

A bunny dreams of flight, and makes it after much trial and error. I love the illustrations, but the text is super abstract about dreams and boxes and who knows what else, and I don’t think it really makes much sense or fits the art.

Douglas can’t really tell what he’s looking at...until he gets glasses! This book made me laugh and smile so much!!

This whimsical story of love & friendship is elevated by Adams’ beautiful artwork! What fun!

When I was at the library fiending for some good picture book reads, I stumbled upon Jon Agee. I pulled one book off the shelf; the cover made me laugh out loud. Another book; same reaction. I ended up bringing all of the available Agee books home with me.

The silliness of It’s Only Stanley did not let me down. Once the family is sleeping, Stanley gets up to some weird hijinks- and when he wakes up the kids, no one is particularly surprised to find him...fixing the oil tank, for example.

A little repetitive, and the rhyming seems a bit unnecessary, but the illustrations are just so fun.

A kid astronaut journeys to Mars in search of life, bringing a cupcake as a present for anyone he happens to meet. He stumbles around what seems like a barren planet, never noticing the giant alien following him around...

Silly, fun story.

Too repetitive for my liking, and it annoys me that it relies so heavily on spelling words slightly wrong. That’s just not that funny in my opinion.

A crotchety old man gets stranded on an island...and makes a friend!

You had me at “bear jumped into the hat”
