Interesting topics but a very, very dry academic take. I was way more interested in the specifics explored in chapters 5 and 6, as they were concrete methods toward change.

Very reminiscent of “Herland”, but interpreted as second-wave feminism. Similar egalitarian utopia but with several plot threads that utterly are ignored or not considered, like a really good first draft where the excellent ending twist does not make up for cliches.

Your fairly have hazard collection of early mid-E science fiction with not a little bit of stereotypical skepticism and sexism that permeated the genre. But there are several absolutely delightful and occasionally hilarious stories. Pick it up if you find it really cheap at a used bookstore and you’re into that kind of older science fiction short story magazine aesthetic.

A fun mix of nine short stories about the potential relationships that mankind has with aliens, alien intelligences, and of course ourselves. Great writings from all authors.

A strange book that I have mixed feelings on, with a Mary Sue who knows better if they weren’t so alien. I ended up finishing this less out of interest in the plot or characters than the philosophical ramifications of its world.

The title is terrible - not because it belies the content, but because the kind of person who needs to read this book isn’t going to be interested. This is a great exploration not only of genetics and race, but also how scientific inquiry concerning race has changed throughout history. Not because life is become “PC”, but because standards in science have changed to be more robust. And that’s the heart of Dr. Rutherford’s great survey on human genetic variation.

The kind of book you finish and just kinda stare at the wall for a few minutes.
