I knew by the end of the first page I would like this book. I said so to Lucas. I didn't know I'd love this book. It is unapologetic, it is strong, it is nostalgic, it taught me more about women's fashion in the 1940s than I thought possible. Some characters were vapid, some were people I want to be best friends with. Everyone had weaknesses and character flaws, but that's the point. And I'm 100% here for it.

Reread in 2023:
She's still 5 stars. Leigh Bardugo is brilliant, and turns out I didn't remember a single thing about this book other than surface level summaries. This book was compelling, intriguing, confusing, and mysterious. Alex is a pain in the ass, Darlington is the loml, Dawes is me in another life. And the cliff hanger and plot twists??? Brb while I dive headfirst into Hell Bent after entirely too long.
First read in 2020:
I'm obsessed. #2 can't get here fast enough. Ghosts and magic had me skeptical, but I'm glad I took the leap. This book took fantasy that could have gone very wrong and instead made it tangible and oh so right.

This. Book.
Guys. I can't handle this book. It was perfect. It was amazing. It was raw and real and DON'T GET ME STARTED ON THE AUDIOBOOK. This book was destined for audio, and it was...it was stunning.
This was EASILY a 5+ star book, hands down, no doubt about it. I used an Audible credit and now own the audiobook. I will gladly listen to it again. Repeatedly.
The only other TJR book I've read is Evelyn Hugo, but I've preordered Malibu Rising and have One True Loves on my TBR cart. I've decided I'm obsessed with her. It's fine.
I know I'm late to the party with this one, so if you're also late or weren't planning on going, please, PLEASE just do it.

READ THIS BOOK. I laughed, I cried (looking at you, last sentence), and I couldn't figure out HOW they were getting out of this mess. Some reviews have said it tried to do too much, but I think the point was that there was so much going on? I don't know. Anyway - this was a 5 star read for me, and honestly a new favorite.
People who will like this book: fans of lavish weddings, believers in love at first sight, people who like to laugh, anyone who even remotely liked Crazy Rich Asians or Selling Sunset, or anyone who's ever had an overbearing parent that they love anyway.

I want to say this book was even more enjoyable the second time around. I vaguely remembered generalities, but found myself newly excited about each new reveal, each new character flaw, each new observstion or revelation. TJR has become a must read for me in just two books, and I can't wait for more.
If you started with Daisy Jones as an audiobook, just know that the story of Evelyn is just as powerful, and had me in tears in more places than Daisy did, but that it isn't as well suited for audio as Diasy. I wouldn't say the audio missed the mark - it has such a beautiful foundation to start with - but it just wasn't the same effect as Daisy.
This book was one of my first BOTM picks, and I'm still just as obsessed with it now as I was then.
People who will enjoy this book: lovers of the grand, the dramatic, and the juicy; fans of fashion; supporters of the people on the fringe of society; people who find that they often lack the self-confidence they deserve; and believers in multiple soul mates.

Why Can I Not Stop Crying
I will be 100% honest - when I picked this book up I thought the two men on the cover would be vying for the attention of some unknown female. Oops. Let's just say that I am determined to elect a female president, and if she wanted to bring her gay, Hispanic son along for the ride I'd be just fine with that. I expected a lighthearted read, but what I got was a book that tugged at my heartstrings and made me want to fight for what I believe in and love more deeply than ever before. Also, this book made me genuinely laugh. Like out loud. And obnoxiously. It's nerdy, and it's lovely.

A Rogue of One's Own was delightful, steamy, and invigorating. Where Bringing Down the Duke felt like it needed to focus more on the romance between Annabelle and Sebastian, ARoOO was able to focus on Lucie the Suffragette, in addition to her romance with her Enemies to Lovers situation with Tristan. I felt the presence of Women's Suffrage more heavily in this one, and felt more outraged, while also not being distracted from the story and the relationships.
In other words, I loved it.
People who need to read this one: anyone who dreams of being friends with Eloise Bridgerton, cat ladies who can't keep plants alive, millennials who watched the Samantha American Girl movie growing up and loved it, and anyone who wants to strike a balance between living their dreams and following their heart.
