Mini Book Review: 4.5 - This book was my book club's pick for sports romance.
I absolutely loved reading it!

"Sometimes the quietest love is the loudest."

This book was so swoony especially from the second half on when it was apparent that there were feelings towards each other. This book had the tropes that are some of my favorite: force proximity, fake dating and there was even a one bed moment!

Were there moments that were predictable? Sure but isn't that in all romances?
I thought the pacing was pretty good but some parts did feel like it dragged. And I also didn't like how Ryan was trying to tell Indy on what she couldn't do for work. Especially since he hardly knew her.

I do wish I had read Mile High prior to this because I did love when we got Stevie & Zanders but this definitely can be read as a stand alone. I am looking forward to going back to read the first one and then the most recent book.

I paired this book with the audio and both narrators were great!

I also don't want to shy away from the controversy surrounding the author's books. I thought my group had great discussion and didn't shy away from the privileges this author has.

Mini Audiobook Review: My gosh doing two paranormal romances in a week? WHO AM I!

I swear these demons just love humans especially those in the female form. HOLY MOLY THIS IS SPICY!  And I can't believe what I'm about to type next, I think I was attracted to a demon and not only a demon but a demon dragon?! I am who I am.

Compared to the mini novella I read before this, this one definitely had more action involved. And I do not just mean in the sexual nature but like fighting combat action. Some parts in the middle was hard for me to follow and I wish at that time I was reading along with my book.

I am looking forward to continuing to the next book!

Mini Audiobook Review: It is very hard to review a book that was only 2 hours long?? But anyhow, this was my first Kimberly Lemming book (yes I read out of order) and honestly I thought this was a great intro into a paranormal romance in such a bitesize package.

It was so fun and even though it was short we got a full story in those 2 hours.
Alexis the talking sword was so much fun and a great sidekick to Ruby.
Ruby and Lucca (the fox demon) were SO HOT. I have learned that demons love to please their women.

If you are looking for a really quick listen and want to try paranormal romance - give this one a whirl!

Thank you so much to Celadon Books for the advance copy of this book!

This book will be published on January 2nd, 2024.

"With being a Joseph. The risk, the labor, the dirt. Tearing something down and rebuilding it. It will always come first."

Marley Marley Marley.
She is the star of the book. She comes to town and immediately is smitten by the Joseph boys. I love that she had different relationships with each member of the family. She was craving that familial feeling since her home wasn't perfect. I was upset though by her mom just up and leaving after Marley became pregnant and had to deal with being a teenage mom without her own mom. I just wanted to scream at her and her relationship with Waylon. They both just were not good communicators and it made being a reader very frustrating because you see the potential and their thoughts but then nothing. Their journey was such a rollercoaster ride but through it all and my feelings I could still sense their love. I am so glad that Marley had Jade in her life. She was such a great influence on her and they really was such a wonderful friend. I love their scenes together.

The Joseph Men.
Each one brought something else to the table (no pun intended). They each had their own complicated relationship with their parents for various of reasons. And honestly it's amazing how the boys made it through because their parents were horrible. But for whatever reason their father could do no wrong & it was so hard for them to see the bad. My heart broke for Baylor & Shay for different reason. I need to know what happened in the future for both of these characters beyond the end of this book. I want both of them to find love and to have their happily ever after.

Mick & Elise.
I do not have much to say about these two. They are a couple who sound like they should never have been a couple. Mick especially just had so much going on in his brain and there was a moment later in the book that I wish I could say I was shocked about but did not shock me whatsoever and just made me angry. And poor Elise once she was with Mick, there was no turning back. I do like how she tried to get Marley to leave and not return. Elise had such a weird way of showing her love and appreciation towards Marley and Marley was just trying to win her over the whole book.

"Sins are like butterflies. They all began as something else."

Within all the drama between the characters, there was this mystery of the body found at the local church. I was somewhat surprised of the moments leading up to what happened that night and then the aftermath of it. I honestly thought the act of crime was going to be from another member of the Joseph family than who it really was. But it all make sense. And I love how things just end up connecting as we go through the book.

The audiobook is narrated by Maria Liatis who brought such a young flair to the narration. This book is mostly told through Marley's third point of view and it was perfect. Her tone allowed you to use a higher speed without the voice becoming distorted.

I was unsure where this book was going to go but I am so glad I read this because I really enjoyed it! Family dynamics are complex and this was such a beautiful story from start to end.

This was my first book that I did with Celadon's read along and it was really nice to have a group of other readers to talk about the book with afterwards. We all had similar feelings with the characters the story itself.

Check this book out if you love a family drama with a mystery tied in set in western PA in the early 90s!

Thank you so much to the author for the advance copy of this book!

I became an instant fan of Janovsky's work after first reading Never Been Kissed and I swear he is just getting better and better with each book. I thought New Adult was my favorite but this is now my favorite book of his.

"Holden James, you haven't experienced unraveled until you've had me inside you."

Holden & Leo. My boys.
I love them both so much! I love their banter and then when its flirtatious even better!!  They just brought the best out of one another and they crossed paths at the most important time in their life.  They both just had so many layers and though they were not together very long they were able to peel back those layers.  They were just so attracted to one another and love when authors have their characters partake in casual/no strings attached sex because it feels realistic. Holden and Leo started their relationship as just a potential hook up but as romance readers know what always happens.

If you have read Janovsky's prior work, you know that his books are primarily closed door or slightly open in the term of romance. In this way, the door was pretty much ripped off its hinges. I love seeing this side of his writing. There were three moments that I can think of where my jaw was on the floor and also cheering in my head as it was happening (iykyk).

One of my favorite things to have in a romance book is a karaoke scene. No matter the book the karaoke part always ends up being my favorite part of the book & more times than not become an important part of the book. This book was no exception. And we are lucky enough to not only have 1 karaoke moment but 2!!!! This made me so incredibly happy!

"It's horrible when someone is both everywhere and nowhere all at once, and there's nothing you can do about it."

Despite this gorgeous colorful cover, this book does tackle grief head on. Holden lost his mother years prior but he never dealt with the grief of losing her. He held on so much and let the grief consume his whole being which cost him his relationship with his now ex. Holden had some meaningful conversations not only with Leo, his ex Buckley and most importantly his father.  I have not lost a parent but I have had lost in my life and the quote above just hit me in my feels. There is no right or wrong way to grieve and you could feel that things were brewing as the book went on until it just came to a head. My heart just broke for him. But I am glad he was able to take time towards the end to work on himself & make strides to talk about his grief.

I do not have memory of ever watching Supermarket Sweep so I didn't have a connection to the game but that didn't take away from understanding Madcap Market. I thought that was such a fun element to the romance and made it unique compared to other romances I have read.

I know Timothy has a book coming out later in 2024 and I'm even more excited after reading this!

If you are. a fan of fake dating, food competition games, steamy romance with lots of heart - check this out!

This was such a ride and I did not want to get off!

“Badass Mejia and Weak Sauce Matthews. We’re quite the pair.”

Treasure hunting theme romance books are wiggling their way into the mainstream and honestly, I am here for it. Perhaps they always have been around, and I’ve just been blind, but I know of 3 recentish releases that has this theme (please don’t come for me if there are any – instead tell me the books in the comments).

Within the early chapters I was already texting a friend asking if this was a slow burn because they were written as two hot people and the tension was so apparent right away and I needed to know how long I was going to have to wait for them to be intimate. I love how open Corrie was with the sexual side of herself and was not afraid to be outspoken about it.

As much as this was a romance, there was also heavier topics woven through such as Ford’s reason why this expedition was so important to him and for Corrie she wants to be taken seriously. Corrie is known for being a badass archaeologist for putting herself into dangerous situations and is extremely smart but always seems to be getting passed up for big opportunities. I also thought Segura did a good job with the misogyny that women go through in fields that are deemed “masculine”. And even though Ford was a d**k to Corrie in his responses, I am glad he was self-aware enough to know when he was being like this.

This is told in a third person POV for both Corrie & Ford with 1 narrator. I do wish we had a separate male narrator for Ford’s chapters, but Frankie Corzo did a great job throughout the whole book.

Check this out if you are interested in a steamy romance between 2 hot archeologists on an adventure in Mexico!

PS – HOW AMAZING IS THIS COVER?! I am still not over how beautiful this cover is!

PSS - I'm ready for the next one!

"Mate is...a pretty big upgrade from me asking you for a selfie."

I became such a fan of Lana Ferguson after reading The Nanny and I knew that I was going to vibe with the future books that Lana would write. What I didn't expect is for her next published book to be able two wolf shifters!

This book was amazing, chaotic, cringey, romantic, dramatic all in the best ways possible.

I love how both of these characters are doctors and successful in their respective departments. Noah is so reserved and shows very little emotion on a daily but when he is with Mackenzie it brings out this different side of him. He was so smitten by her from the start. And Mackenzie was such a smart, sassy female character and I love her banter with Noah. Having them both being wolfs meant they could relate and understood the importance of having a scent. When Mackenzie has a moment of her body going into "heat", Noah was right there to swoop in and to save her which was quite a chapter!! Noah definitely was swoony and it was no wonder why Mackenzie fell for him. He was just so delicate and caring towards her.

"I'm not letting you get away from me, Mackenzie."

If you aren't familiar with Lana's prior work then you know she knows how to write a sex scene. These scenes were so good and the chemistry between the two was very apparent. She is so descriptive in her writing and I love how she doesn't just show the female's point of view but also the male point of view. Some parts were a little cringey but I also wouldn't change a thing? This was my first knotting book so I had no idea what to expect and I am not sure that I disliked it??? Will I be running to read all the shifter romances? No. But will I if Lana writes them? YES!

I paired reading this with the audio and both narrators were SO good! Joe Arden has such a way when he does the spicy bits that gives just the right amount of grovel and adds his little flair when doing the dialogue.

I love that Lana isn't sticking to a specific type of book. Her first book was a single dad & nanny, this one shifters and her next is a hockey romance. I love the variety and I know I'm going to love the next book based off the snippet that was provided at the end of the ARC.

If you have never read a shifter romance before, I think this would be a great beginning book to terminology and the mechanics of them. Check this book out if you are looking for an paranormal/omegaverse romcom, fake dating, workplace romance & bonus dual POV!

Thank you so much to the author Sophie Andrews for an advance copy of this!

Content Warnings from the Author:
The Rehearsal Fling is romance between a grumpy single dad and his daughter's dance teacher with multiple open door love scenes. While there are a lot of discussions about divorce and being a single parent, you can be guaranteed a happily ever after for this dirty-talking cinnamon roll and his lady love.

Sophie has done it again!!!

I knew from the first chapters that I was going to love this book. There is just something about the way Sophie writes that just puts you into the atmosphere of the book.

"What's your favorite color>?" He tossed me a look.
"Red, obviously."

Gen & Dylan. Sigh.
I love them so much together! They provided so much balance to one another and as an audience reading about them you couldn't help but root for them the whole way. And plus who doesn't want to see two hot people get together?! *fans self*

Dylan gave us two different sides of himself: being this wonderful father and then being a sexual being. I love how he has this circle of friends that are all single and have these little ones and they created this small community for themselves. One of my favorite moments of the book is when he just casual hangs at the bar that Gen works at and they proceed to continue to get to know each other and then the end of chapter had be clapping. I smiled through majority of the chapters but this one I was definitely grinning from ear to ear. I also loved how we got a peek into the relationship between Dylan and his ex wife and how they work through their custody and how they treat one another.

Genevieve. I really loved her as a female main character. She has this goal/dream and doesn't want to let that go and is so driven to convince everyone (including herself) that she still can be this amazing dancer. I also like how this book has a woman who "failed" and has moved back to her hometown and has multiple jobs which is a REALISTIC scenario. She was just so well written. She is Dylan's daughter's dance teacher and those moments at the dance studio really made my heart flutter because they had to be restrain themselves for their attraction to one another - HOT.

"Ah, Genevieve," he grated, "no amount of time could have prepared me for you."

The spice. WHEWWWW!!! The last book I read by Andrews gave me everything I wanted so I knew it was going to be grand in this and boy was it! We got that bedroom scene very early on (as this relationship starts off as a one night stand) and even 40 pages I was kicking my feet with excitement for these two. As I mentioned above, they just come off like such hot people and who wouldn't want to see two hot people banging it out LOL

I am VERY excited to read the other single dad books and hope that we get to see what Dylan and Genevieve are up to in those books.

If you are looking for a steamy, hot single dad romance, dual POV that gives you all feelings - check this out!!

Mini Audiobook Review: I had been wanting to read this one since last holiday season so I'm glad I decided to give it a whirl!

I enjoyed the first 75% of it and then I'm not sure why but the last bit fell flat for me? And I honestly couldn't even tell you how it ended???

This definitely felt like a YA romance which is not a bad thing; it made for easy listening.

I just had a lightbulb moment where it must be a YA trope where you have teens who are trying to save their parents business and of course are enemies and have to work together.  This one had a little bit of a twist since it was the mall that was closing and not so much the restaurant itself was failing.

I thought both of the narrators did an excellent job with their characters.

If you are looking for a quick, YA holiday read that takes place at a mall -check this out!

Mini Audiobook Review :  My library hold came through at the perfect time as the next book in this series comes out later this month.  I do not know how but somehow I completed this audiobook in a day? I just was super invested into the story.

I had been nervous to read/listen to this because just based off the cover I really thought this was going to be more fantasy/magical than what it was. So that was good for me! I definitely recommend this if you want an intro into that genre.

Iris & Roman were so cute together!!! I love that their relationship began with exchanging letters through a magical wardrobe. And I love how they share a connection with their magical typewriters!!  I love that we had dual POVs and we had two narrators who were both perfect for the characters. I am going to be vague in my next statement, there was a moment between them that I thought felt odd but I am thinking it was the sign of the times??

I am excited to see what happens in the next book.
