Thank you @bookedwiththeemilys @jennyproctorbooks for a gifted copy of this book!

This book is available now.

When I saw the title of this book, if you don't know me, you know I had to sign up for this book tour! After I read the first 50 pages, I knew this book was the book for me. I have never read this author before but I have seen her book around the book community. And honestly I am ready for the next book in this series.

"I've actually been pretty proud of myself today. I met Leo and Jace and hung out with all of Midnight Rush at the same time and I didn't lose my cool."
"Flint Hawthrone was the last straw, huh? You couldn't handle it anymore."
"It was."

This book gave me so many swoony moments and I felt that Laney was just so relatable!! I felt like she had the appropriate reaction when she learned that the man she started dating was in her favorite boy band. And the way she found out, made me laugh out loud! It was prefect!

I just love the relationship between Adam and Laney. They were both too shy to make a first move but an opportunity arose and Laney took her chance and Adam followed. Also how can you not be attracted to a bearded man who owns a dog rescue?! There were too many moments that had me smiling and feeling all giddy.

As I mentioned this was my first Jenny book and I knew going into this that this was only going to have kissing. As much as the intimacy would have been such a bonus while reading, I honestly did not miss the spice. There was just so much other stuff happening that I felt like it was not needed. I wanted to note this for those who may want to read this and are looking (or not looking) for a closed door romance.

Also Percy is the best sidekick! He cracked me up! As I mentioned above I am already looking forward to the next book which will focus on Freddie (who also was a great side character) and his assistant Ivy.

I just really loved this book and I am so glad that I was a part of the team to read this! I also loved seeing everyone's reaction in our group chat while reading. We all have shared the same sentiment and prior to me reading, their excitement towards it made me so excited to read it!

Mini Audiobook Review: I had been hesitant to read any of Adrienne Young books because I always thought she was fantasy or high level magical realism but a friend suggested this one so I thought lets give it a go. While there is some magic involved it wasn't too bad for my witty brain.

"She felt like air to me"

This book has a mystery, romance (second chance), small town feel and a little magic. There were several narrators for this book (Dan Bittner was fantastic as August, loved his voice) and I am glad that the contents of the chapters to show which character it was. I will say there were a lot of characters and then to remember how each of those characters were connected to one another and to the plot.

Even though there was magic that ran through the course of the island, I was mostly invested in the mystery of Emery's best friend death that happened 14 years prior. Everyone accused August of killing Lily but he was never charged because there was no evidence that it was him. So when he returns back to the island after his mother's death, he is not welcomed.

I just really like how the story progressed & how we see the island and the main characters from the perspective from those on the island. This would be good for those who need a mystery and like a little magic. Great for the upcoming fall season!

Mini Audiobook Review: This was a book club pick and although I was not there at the book club meeting, I am very curious as to what was there to discuss? I thought this was okay. I enjoyed majority of this book but the end just kind of fell flat for me. I guess there were a couple of "shocking" moments but none that really wowed me. This did have one of my favorite thriller tropes: locked in one location. This whole book takes place on a resort.

Christine Lakin is one of my favorite narrators so I was happy that she was the narrator for this. It made my listening experience easy and wanting to keep listening.

This is the 2nd Reese Book Pick that was a "thriller" that was lackluster that I read this year so I am starting to wonder if these picks just aren't for me.

Mini Book Review: This was a random read that I was influenced by my Bookstagram friends to read. It was never on my radar but as soon as I saw the cover, I knew I had to read it! It is not very often (if none at all) that there is a romance between to larger male bodies. I applaud Dylan for creating a series that will center around larger bodied males.

"If all the forest was full of sexy men, I'd still be spending my days with you, Luca Torres."

Now about the book, this book was SPICY! I have read other male/male books before and this reminded me of the ones I read by MA Wardell but also different. Some of the descriptions made me giggle such as (view spoiler). There was some plot but most of this was about Luca's lust for Artair once they met and then of course all their intimate moments. OH and this book had a bunch of funny moments that had me laughing out loud.

I love that this book took place in 2005 where internet was still barely new and cell phones weren't needed. I don't think it would have worked if it would take place in current time. This took place in the woods and was giving such a vibe as we approach the fall and made me miss hiking!!

This is a short book just under 300 pages BUT parts did feel long and I think it was because the chapters were just so LONG. My kindle at one point read 40 minutes until the next chapter - whew. That is probably my biggest issue with the book.

If you are looking for a spicy male/male romance that takes place in woods over the summer - give this a read!

Mini Audiobook Review:

This book is out now!

With every book I read from TJ Newman, the more fearful of planes I become and I'm not even afraid of planes! Once again, Newman keeps you on your toes throughout the whole book.

The author posed the question: What do you do when your pilot has a medical emergency and crashes into a nuclear power plant?!

It just is amazing how Newman can get your anxiety and blood pressure raised in a 300 page/8 hours book! She has such a way of introducing you to these characters and how they work through these dangerous but critical situations.

Just like her previous books, I read this one via audio and the last two had superb narrators (who are actors) and I was SO excited to hear that once again we have an actor doing narration and its non other than JOE MORTON aka Olivia Pope's dad from Scandal! His voice is so rich and was easy on the ears to listen to. And they did voice effects when he would talk in like an intercom and it just added to the listening experience.

If I had been working when I started this book this easily could be consumed in a day because it just keeps you on edge the whole time.

Just like with her other books, I really enjoyed & I can't wait to see what she has up her sleeve next and in what way I will be fearful of planes!

**I do not rate NF books**

Thank you so much to Storygram Tours, Fierce Reads, George Johnson for a gifted copy of this book!

This book will be out September 24th, 2024.

First off, if you have not read George's book All Boys Aren't Blue, please read immediately. Thank you.

Flamboyants is a beautiful collection of mini biographies are queer influencers of the Harlem Renaissance. Some are common names and others are not as well known.

"Queer people know who they are and what they feel."

Johnson's writing made this digestible for all ages and nothing was too high level that made it feel like you were being hit with so much information at once.

I have heard a lot of the names mentioned in this book but there was history within each of the biographies that I didn't know before. I was tabbing different passages throughout the book. We often use the phrase History repeats itself but also sometimes things just don't change at all. And in hearing the stories that this icons went through, it mirrors what those in the black queer communities are still going through.

Stories like these are important to have in libraries and in classrooms. These artists made such an impact in the early 1900s that are important in 2024. Johnson made the comment about how a lot of the authors, artists, performers that are listed in here, did not receive their flowers until after they were no longer here. And often time they were left poor and alone and never could fully be themselves publicly. Also one thing I never thought about was how we often think about the "first black person" who did this but what about those that came after?

"I write for our time, to help those here today. But the real work is done with the kid I'll never know a hundred years from now. And the person can use their work to help a kid one hundred years after that."

In addition to the information about these queer influencers, it is paired with gorgeous art by illustrator Charly Palmer. The colors are vibrant and showcase each these icons beautifully!

I highly recommend this book if you are interested in learning about a flamboyant group of individuals during a revolutionary time in America who are still impacting people today.

PS - I recommend listening to music from the Harlem Renaissance while reading to add to the learning experience!

Thank you so much to St Martin's Press for an advance copy of this!
Also thank you for the author Amy Buchanan for having me on your traveling ARC team!
Thank you so much to MacMillan Audio for the complimentary ALC!

This book will be out January 14, 2024

"I want you to pick me because you feel the same way I do every time I look at you."

Holy moly! This book left me with such a book hangover. I have not felt this way about a romance book in quite a bit. So I apologize if this review is all over the place or perhaps doesn't give you the kind of review you need.

To me what makes a great contemporary romance is you have to have great banter, great tension, just the right amount of spice and great side characters. And I felt this book had all this and more! I am such a fan of enemies to lovers in a workplace and this book gave me exactly that.

If I hadn't slowed myself down in reading this, I would've had it done rather quickly because I just could not stop myself from reading it. The pacing was great and the chapters were not overly long that felt like you were moving through the book. I could not believe that this was Amy's first book because it was so well done. We got the full scope of the main characters and the inclusion of the secondary characters were great.

Juliana is trying to restart her life after the sudden loss of her husband and having two young girls to care after forces her to go back into the work field. On her first day she meets handsome Ben and after hearing him talk negative about her (which we learn more about later in the book) she decided to make him her enemy. And for the next couple of years, they have these little battles back and forth but now an opportunity came for Juliana to work directly with Ben on a project.

There is a moment semi early on when the flirtatious tension begin that had me silently screaming as I was reading. "Dance with me?" "I don't think that's a good idea." "I think it's a great fucking idea." What is it about dancing intimately in a club that just gets all the feelings going?! I immediately ran to the author's IG DMs and told her how this scene was so incredibly SWOONY! And moments like this continue throughout the book. Juliana tried so hard to resist Ben and his charm. Ben is such the ultimate book boyfriend. He is smart, beautiful and really listens to Juliana and wants to be apart of her world. Juliana was scared to move forward with Ben because she still felt so connected with her husband and didn't want to lose that or have her children to think their dad would be replaced. There was the 3rd act situation that Ben could have been handled WAY differently to decrease the hurt and heartbreak but as any romance it all worked out in the end.

I love Ben and Juliana together. Their lives seem to blend so well together and we see that even before they are publicly a couple. And Juliana just seems so happy when she did finally let her guard down and let Ben in their lives. When you sneak in a man into your house while your children (and his child) are sleeping in their rooms, you know you are down bad! Ben never faltered in his feelings for Juliana. He made it very clear over and over and was confident that she would eventually fall for him. "But the next time I'm inside of you - and we both know there will be a next time - I won't be playing a character. You'll have come to terms with the fact that you want me, the real me, as badly as I want you." WHEWWWW

I have listened to quite a few books from Charlotte North and it took a bit for me to get use to her voice in this one. But as I continued listening, the more I got comfortable with her narration.

This book just really made me happy and I am sad that the world cannot read it until January. I am looking forward to rereading this in the future and being brought back to all the feels.

Please put this on your radar!!

Thank you so much for Avon for allowing me to read this!

This book is out now!

When I grabbed this book as a Read Now, all I saw was two athletes on the cover and was sold from there. Turns out this was a 4th book in a series and I had not read any of the other books in the series. I will say I don't think it was necessary to have read the prior 3 books in the series to follow along with this book.

I am unsure how I feel about this book because there were elements that I really enjoyed but I also was meh for other parts of it. The book was very long and I'm not sure if it was necessary for it to be over 400 pages. If you are looking for a book that does have a plot but has a LOT of spice, this could be for you. I didn't know much about how Grace's writing or her books but I was so surprised at how much spice was in this book. The chemistry between Izzy and Nikolai is very apparent early on and carries throughout the book. Nikolai is SO head over heels for Izzy.

One thing I appreciated is that feeling in your early 20s when you are unsure about how you want to proceed with your future. You don't want to disappoint your family and friends but you also need to feel fulfilled in someway as well. Both characters had these conflicts on different scales. I felt bad for Izzy as she was constantly comparing herself to her brothers and their careers whereas Nikolai tried so hard to separate himself from his father and feeling like a let down to his mom & grandfather.

I primarily read this with my ears and honestly if it wasn't for the audio, I don't think I would've gotten through the book as quick. I thought the narrators Faith Clark and Oscar Reyes were pretty good. I loved Faith's voice for Izzy. It just felt young and even had that naive tone of a young woman.

Overall I really loved the relationship between Izzy and Nik and just how in love they both were with each other.

I am so torn on how to rate this!!!! So I think I am going to rate it at a 3.75. I wanted to read this to see what the hype was about & also because I know it will be coming out as a movie in the future. Also my husband is such a fan of The Martian (movie) so I was already familiar with Weir's humor. The humor definitely came through while reading and I loved his relationship with alien Rocky. And Ryland just seemed like such a good dude! He was a highly intelligent teacher who kind of got thrown into this space program and then was left to fend for himself out there. One thing I wonder and perhaps I missed it but was anyone looking for him? Surely someone back on Earth knew he was out there.

But the science of it all. The science was very high level even if it was made up (or maybe it wasn't?!) and that was where it was losing me. And yes I understand that is part of this as a book that takes place in space.

I did pair my reading with the audio (Audible exclusive) and I am glad I had my book because within chapters it would go from being in present to the past. Luckily you knew when it would switch to the past based off what was happening but still it happened to seamless that it could throw you off. Ray Porter was such a perfect narrator and made me believe that he was Ryland. I thought his timing of the dialogue between himself and even with Rocky was so good.

I am happy I read this & I think Ryan Gosling is going to be amazing as Ryland Grace. I will be very curious how they create Rocky and what they will look like.

I was feeling such fomo over not to have read this book that I knew I needed to put it on an immediate hold at the library and they came through for me!

This book is out now!

This is exactly the time of slow burn rom com I am into! Lark is this cute Texan lady who moves to Galaway for a job but also to run away from her grief after losing her husband. She moves next to Callum whose family owns an undertaking business. The chemistry between the two of them are so cute! I love how their relationship builds throughout the book until they just succumb to their attraction. I love how Callum was honest with Lark on how attraction for him is unlike most and that he needs to get to know a woman before he experiences any sort of attraction (demisexual). Even knowing this about Callum, his intrusive thoughts about Lark were very strong.

Fairbanks kept the story moving along and despite the couple not getting together until the later half of the book she provided enough tension and flirtatious moments that kept me wanting more. And once those moments happen, you knew they both were down bad. Shy Callum became such a different person in the bedroom and even a moment not in the bedroom. One of my favorite moments with the couple is when he went out with Lark and her co workers and he stood up to her work bully. I'm sorry I found it swoony.

"We show the people we love the ugliest parts of ourselves, and we tell them the truth even when it hurts, because that's what intimacy is."

I paired my reading with the audio (Audible exclusive only) and I thought both narrators, Gary Furlong and Angela Dawe (love her narration for Finlay Donovan) did a great job! I think you could get away with reading the book or listening to the audio and have the same feeling each way. Reading in tandem just really helped the overall experience for me.

Overall this was just such a cute end of summer into fall romance with a small town feeling & just will make you happy all the way through!

OH I know I saw recently that Ivy Fairbanks posted who the next book would be about (it may have been announced previously but I looked since I was reading this) and I thought the introduction to Aiden and Lo was the perfect amount!
