Morbidly Yours by Ivy Fairbanks

I was feeling such fomo over not to have read this book that I knew I needed to put it on an immediate hold at the library and they came through for me!

This book is out now!

This is exactly the time of slow burn rom com I am into! Lark is this cute Texan lady who moves to Galaway for a job but also to run away from her grief after losing her husband. She moves next to Callum whose family owns an undertaking business. The chemistry between the two of them are so cute! I love how their relationship builds throughout the book until they just succumb to their attraction. I love how Callum was honest with Lark on how attraction for him is unlike most and that he needs to get to know a woman before he experiences any sort of attraction (demisexual). Even knowing this about Callum, his intrusive thoughts about Lark were very strong.

Fairbanks kept the story moving along and despite the couple not getting together until the later half of the book she provided enough tension and flirtatious moments that kept me wanting more. And once those moments happen, you knew they both were down bad. Shy Callum became such a different person in the bedroom and even a moment not in the bedroom. One of my favorite moments with the couple is when he went out with Lark and her co workers and he stood up to her work bully. I'm sorry I found it swoony.

"We show the people we love the ugliest parts of ourselves, and we tell them the truth even when it hurts, because that's what intimacy is."

I paired my reading with the audio (Audible exclusive only) and I thought both narrators, Gary Furlong and Angela Dawe (love her narration for Finlay Donovan) did a great job! I think you could get away with reading the book or listening to the audio and have the same feeling each way. Reading in tandem just really helped the overall experience for me.

Overall this was just such a cute end of summer into fall romance with a small town feeling & just will make you happy all the way through!

OH I know I saw recently that Ivy Fairbanks posted who the next book would be about (it may have been announced previously but I looked since I was reading this) and I thought the introduction to Aiden and Lo was the perfect amount!
