Being the first book in the series it was a bit slow to pick up the pace. The narration was decent though there really wasn't much mystery to solve.
True to the blurb, Di wasn't a great sleuth. In fact, I liked Mary more than Di. She seemed to be mature and better at handling things despite being much younger than Di.
Overall, I did enjoy reading the book.

It was a quick and easy read with some yummy cakes and humor sprinkled all over. There wasn't much of a mystery but it was a fun book. Nothing really Christian about the story so there were no divine incidents happening either. That was a definite plus, especially in a cozy mystery.

A story that is as sweet as donuts.

A cute book with some interesting ghosts.

Interesting but not as engaging probably due to the limited word count.

It is lighthearted, funny, and easy to read. I didn't have to stress about knowing the murderer or solving the crime. Not my kind of crime but definitely a cozy mystery and hey, it's got food.

A good mix of desserts, detection, family and friends, emotions, and some laughter.

This is more of a novella. It's fast and easy to read except for a few places where one of the characters was mentioned with another's name.
Another round of proofreading, maybe?
