Considering the storyline, the story could have been an emotional ride but somehow ended up being something pretty ordinary.
The change in the hero's attitude from not wanting to understand the person he claims to love to not just understanding but supporting her was a little too sudden. Especially since he was hell-bent on blaming her until the previous paragraph.

It wasn't really Nora's best book. I don't usually like my heroes smoking so that was one minus point. The imagery of the locations and Nature were great. Overall, an entertaining book.

I'm really happy that a friend of mine recommended me to read this book. Though it appears to be a love triangle the story is so much more. In fact, it is not the central aspect of the story.
This book also happens to be my first book by the author. I'm definitely going to read her other works.
Though the initial pages sounded like a YA, it took a serious note later on and sustained it.
What I totally love about the book is the execution of the plot. The voices come out real, vulnerable, and authentic.
My friend loves the tattoo (I can see why) and I like the sentence almost at the end of the book which explains everything (it's the title of the book too).
I'm relieved that it ended the way it should have. No matter how good, some people are better at a distance.
At quite some places Lily sounded more like a teenager than a 24-year-old, but she definitely grew up by the end of the book.

The story started really well but then drifted into a mix of many things. None of the characters were developed much and it left me feeling a bit disappointed. It could have been a great short story if time was spent in giving dimensions to the existing characters rather than bringing in a new track and another set of characters.

The good thing about this book was that I could stop it at any place and still continue days later without much trouble. The characters had issues, flaws, secrets, and emotions. Not all of them were likable, especially Tess, but there are people like her out there.
I couldn't relate to any of them which did make them distant and not so real for me.
The descriptions of the scenery were something I enjoyed. There wasn't much suspense, still, it was good enough to keep me hooked until the end.
Another thing I liked was how Ava finally stopped shielding Tess. It was that scene in the hospital that gave hints about how Tess was most likely the reason for Christoper to know about their hideout. The girl was portrayed as self-centered quite a few times but her love for Ava appeared genuine. It didn't make me off or something because Tess was more close to reality than other characters. Ava's reaction after getting to know the truth about Tess was something I enjoyed and the scenes between the sisters were written really well.
Javier was probably a bit too compassionate and understanding for me. He seemed to forgive Ava too easily at the end. Especially when she called him a liar and whatnot when she was herself hiding things from him.
Christoper didn't have much to do and it was good in a way. I'd don't enjoy reading too much about an obsessed psychopath. The scenes did not drag much, and there was some action that added to the drama.
Overall, it is a good story one can enjoy reading.

Elaina is waiting for Will, her childhood sweetheart, to return from the Napoleon war. Letters keep them connected through the years as both feel love blooming between them.
But Elaina is the daughter of a land steward, and Will is the second son of a duke. It doesn’t help that Elaina feels grateful towards the duke and the duchess for caring for her from her childhood. With Elaina being pressurized to get married (she’s 25 years old already) and Will returning right on time, things seem anything but easy for these two lovebirds.
Thrown in Will’s elder brother and his already decided fiancé, a prospective suitor for Elaina, and a bunch of other characters and we have a decent story about their lives.
The writing is nice, and the flow is good. It took a while in the beginning, but I picked up the pace soon. None of the characters are perfect. They have emotions humans are expected to have. However, they do redeem themselves quite soon. We have no villains in the book. There is some drama, but nothing too complex.
In fact, there really isn’t anything complex or twisted in this book. It’s light and easy to read. If you are looking for a book where you don’t have to invest your emotions, this one should work well. It has various conflicts, all of which, get resolved quite easily.
I’m not sure if more books will follow this one (it says the book si snot a part of a series), but some characters just drifted in and out without much to do. Also, some characters probably need HEA someday. Either way, it wouldn’t make difference to this one. It ends well.
Overall, it’s a nice book, but not something that will stay with you for a while. It’s something you’d pick up one noon, read, smile, finish, and move on. Great for reading between two heavy books.
