I am extremely disappointed in this book. I loved the premise of this book, as well as the others in the series, and I was so excited to start reading them. However, as a feminist (yes, I'm dropping the word), it feels a little TOO women-are-better-than-men. It hits you over the head by repeating how feminist and progressive Audrey Rose is, instead of letting her character speak for itself. That speaks toward the quality of the writing.
The beginnings of the romance used tropes that annoy me. Audrey Rose seems to dislike Thomas merely because he's competition and not for any valid reason. This doesn't lend itself to a realistic romance or set a good precedent for young women.
The only redeeming quality is the fact that the feminist ideas expressed might be the first exposure to female empowerment for young women.

The relationship between the main love interests was still so toxic and back-stabby that I couldn't stand to read on anymore.

So, I enjoyed what I did of this book and it gave me an idea of the scene at the time. It's super interesting! The problem was I had to eventually put it down to live life and do things and I just never picked it back up...
I believe I will always love this book. The journey is so insane, yet the comraderie with the dwarves makes up for the unpleasantness of some instances. Anyone would enjoy seeing how Bilbo Baggins steadily becomes more of a Took as time goes on. The ending will always make me laugh.
