Wytches blew me away. The art is gorgeous (though gory oftentimes) and the plot was fast paced - building suspense, revealing information, and weaving in backstory with balance and flow.
This book had a lot more pain in it than I was expecting, but it was honest and well rendered. Will's confusing mix of confidence and insecurity was spot-on resonant, and I loved rooting for her. The only part of the book that I didn't like was one of the love interests made no sense to me, but romantic arcs are pretty hard for me to buy into in general. Overall this book was a lot of fun balanced with pain all in what felt like a very realistic measure.
This was a great introduction to Barbara Gordon as Batgirl, filling in all the backstory necessary to understand the action. I was delighted by the cast full of computer nerds, and the conclusion of the volume's plot arc was super interesting.
Gah, I want to read more!
This series is often confusing and always enormously compelling. I wish it were completed so I could read it all through three times.
I picked up this book because it looked right up my alley, and it didn't really deliver. The plot unfolds confusingly and didn't wrap up completely enough to mitigate that. And I was unsettled by the use of slurs.
This story epitomizes what I struggle with reading Marvel comics, jumping into a story that's well underway, in some alternate reality timeline I'm completely unfamiliar with. I just never got the hang of what was going on here.
Clean Room, Vol. 1: Immaculate Conception

This story was excellently creepy, but the disconnect between the different concurrent story lines and the lack of answers to any of my questions kept the story from really clicking into a place where I wanted to read more of it until the very end. I'm not completely sold but definitely want to read more of this series.
Somebody finished listening to the entire Dresden series (to date) on audiobook! It was me. This installment was enjoyable, with a few really good moments where things came together.
I had close to zero idea what was going on for almost this entire volume. Maybe I could have tried harder but I'm not sure. I still quite loved it, the art was just so beautiful and compelling. At the end I did also like the concept. I think this would make a great reread.
