I'm not totally sure what I think of this book. It was a compelling story and the writing was precise in a way I love, but there was some amount of spark that was missing. I was worried it would be more dense than I found it though, and was surprised at how the pacing pulled the story along. The premise of an actual underground railroad was what drew me in but it wasn't as big a part of the story as I expected.

This book really got into my head. I think it's important and well crafted and I sped through it. A lot of my thoughts right now are spoilers I think, but I'd love to talk about this book with someone.

I paused reading this book for a while but when I got back into it it got harder and harder to put down. Can't wait for the next one to pick up on these half dozen cliffhangers! I found the setting at big it was hard to wrap my mind around, but the characters were fantastic and well worth getting into each of their stores.

I enjoyed this book but it never really captured me and I didn't find myself clicking with the characters in the way I hoped.

I was really excited about the premise of this book, but then the reading of it went slowly and never captured me the way I'd hoped. I think it was not undertaken at the right time, or maybe just isn't a story that's as much for me as I wanted, with all the traveling I grew easily bored. There were moments though that really shined, and I'm definitely glad I read this one.

This book was so well composed, I'm very interested in reading more from Attica Locke.

This book is so wonderful. I already loved Leah, but getting to spend a whole book in her POV was delightful, and it was really cool the way the arcs of Simon Vs were continued but informed so differently by Leah's perspective. Too tired to write more right now but I just loved this book so much.

I really loved Safi and Iseult, their friendship was my favorite part of this book. The plot somewhat struggled to capture my attention, and I was frustrated by the way the protagonists were pulled along not getting to make their own decisions for much of the book's beginning. The world is so cool and interesting though, and a lot of the book felt like it was just setting up hooks for the future, which I kind of wish had been explored more already, but which make me interested to read more.

The character of She-Hulk was very enjoyable in this volume, and I only wish that there had been better resolution to the second half's plot arc. I'm not sure whether that continues in the series or they actually drop it, but either way I wish it'd had more conclusion in this volume. I adore the cover art of this series, I wish the art of the bulk of the book was as glamorous and gorgeous.
