This novel took me forever to finish, and I can't quite figure out why. The premise was great, the plot fast paced and interesting, the characters well imagined, and yet I kept finding myself putting it down and not wanting to pick it back up. It may be that Karen's narrative style and dialect made reading her story a chore, or that it took too long for the major action to start, or I don't know but I was just more bored by this story than I expected. Despite that, I definitely want to read more Elizabeth Bear, I'm just disappointed that this novel didn't quite work for me.

This book was great fun, and made me hungry. Huang is witty, thoughtful, and comes across so genuine. His discussions of race, stories of childhood and young adulthood antics, and all the wonderful food descriptions make this a new favorite memoir.

This one started off kinda too slow, as usual :b - however, it really dug into supernatural stuff in the way that I most love about this series.

This is a breathtaking book. Fantastic pacing, I couldn't put it down. The dynamics between the characters were the heart of the story, and Ng delicately weaves together their failures to see and understand each other. The writing is elegant and a joy to experience.

This book is weird and wonderful; it's just what I'd expect from Oyeyemi (and all the reasons she's such a favorite) while also completely unexpectable. I loved every one of these stories, and was geeked by the ways they connected to each other.

The second issue of Bitch Planet was a bit less epic than the first, but revealed the bigger scheme of what this story is about and I'm so excited to keep reading.

Penny Rolle's vibrant back story and Megan Carpenter's fantastic essay resonated deeply with me. Short and savage, these women continue to impact me deeply and refuse to let go.

This book was so interesting, and though it was slow moving I came to care greatly for the large cast of characters. Beautifully written and moving.

This book was like candy to read. I loved the characters so much, their friendships and easy banter. And the fandom appreciation was delightful! Such a fun and heartwarming story.

Beautifully told dark fairy tale. I just wish I'd read this before Every Heart a Doorway, because I knew there whole arc of the story going into it, which is kind of the thing with prequels. Still, I loved it, I love Seanen McGuire's writing, I loved the setting and getting to know the characters better. Definitely feeling the need to re-read Every Heart a Doorway with my eye more on Jack and Jill.
