I really enjoy the pacing of the dialogue of this series and how over the top it is. And I love that we get more characters than just Scott who are just as developed.
I fear I may have ruined this series by having seen the movie, as the details are very similar so far, and I enjoy things much less when they don't surprise me at all. I love O'Malley's art style though, it's adorable.
Whew! This issue took about five second to finish and was a rollercoaster. I'm really bummed this series is almost over.
There were a lot of really feel-bad moments in this volume for me, as well as some moments of really good feelings, but in the end the bad ones won out. I try not to rate down a story just because bad things happen to people in it, but in this case it was a big part of my experience of the book. I still very much want to keep reading what happens next though.
As with the first volume, I was still not sure whether to expect a long story arc to begin eventually or for it to continue following shorter arcs, and I guess I still don't know what all is to come, but I am glad we seem to at least be getting a recurring cast of main characters. Also, activist Goldilocks is totally one of my favorite ways a Willingham has conceptualized a Fable.
I love the premise of this series, all the characters of old fables have escaped persecution in their scattered kingdoms to live disguised among normal humans in our world. The characters are cleverly re-imagined old favorites, and the plot of the first volume was interesting, although I didn't expect the arc to be as brief as it was. I look forward to seeing what the rest of the series has in store.
Cassidy is probably my favorite character in this series and his backstory was gripping and emotional. I find myself really grateful these characters found each other, a feeling usually reserved for my own friends.
Very intriguing premise, pretty fantastic characters, violent in the extreme. The way the whole thing began felt awkward, but my interest in the story that unfolded overcame that issue. I'm also really impressed with the art style and the use of close ups on the characters and all the different angles.
The heartbreaking and haunting back story totally made it for me and then it went on! So much happened, and now there is just a lot going on. In a good way. The story being told involves generations of plotting and literal deities, so it's understandable that a lot of what's going on is still unclear, but I'm very interested to figure it all out.
Waiiiit I just found out that Issue 15 will wrap this series? This is just not fair. I love the characters that Luna and Vaughn have created in this series and do not want to be parted from their story.
