3.5 stars...heart wrenching at times...the ending was too abrupt to warrant 4 stars.

Chick-lit at its finest. I needed something light and this book did it. I actually laughed out loud several times and enjoyed the sweet ending. "I think I've finally worked out how to feel good about life. Every time you see someone's bright-and-shiny, remember: They have their own crappy truths too."

The novel moved slowly at certain points but wrapped satisfactorily. I am happy I read it, but I wouldn't recommend it as a "must read." Although, I think it would be an intriguing book club selection and would love to discuss certain aspects of the story.

3.5 stars. A riveting story of family and secrets told in alternating voices from the two main female characters, Maggie and Lara.

I don't regret reading this novel, however it was somewhat predictable.

Thoroughly enjoyed this story and how it went back and forth between 1998 and 1924...until the end. Unfortunately, a disappointing finale.

Beautifully raw...two characters drawn together in a messed up world to save each other...Jardine's writing is to be coveted...loved the setting of NYC.

Oh Edgar...you have my heart...although I found it difficult to tolerate Lucy, this book is one of my favourites of this year.
