Ok! I see you. This book makes total sense to me. You don't want a bunch of speciality ingredients on hand, you like using fresh things like lemongrass or pantry items like marshmallow fluff. It's organized by liquor. Ten out of ten. There are several cocktails I'm going to try, thanks to this book.

Ok but why does she write like the Hart tribe Facebook blogger? I found it unsettling for no reason at all. It was trying too hard to present a happy family.

This was a quick read and ultimately not for me. The ingredients were too specific, and the food wasn't enough of a reason to enjoy the book for me.

I read a bunch of books in anticipation of/while in France. I think this was the best of what I read. The essays were all interesting and gave you a sense of French history, French culture, the French people.

The few places I looked up for food or hotels were either booked (I was a last minute booker) or horribly rated on Google with reviews mentioning maggots in food. Always get a 2nd opinion!

I don't think I've read Hemingway before. This was a fun listen; it wasn't too heavy, despite his tales of poverty and watching Fitzgerald waste away. I listened to it flying to, walking around in and discovering Paris. I also watched a tour of Luxembourg Gardens that said he used to hunt pigeons there even though it was against the law, because he was hungry. I enjoyed this read!

I really liked this! Stories of French cuisine like how bread is regulated, and the difference between croissants (straight is a butter croissant, curved is margarine). Light and informative.
