The last several chapters were the perfect way to end the book.  Sue Lynn Tan does an amazing job depicting the lives of the immortals with the ambiguity of time.  She also does an amazing job showing how mortal life is precious and love is messy and complicated and hard, but oh so worth it.  

TJ Kline does it again.  He always crafts incredible stories that inspire hope and growth and perfectly describe what it is to love and be human

It was dry and I’m just not a sci-fi person I don’t think

This book is a journey of healing and how healing is hard and how the journey has many roadblocks in the way of that.  It’s about seeing you parents as flawed people who have harmed you and trying to reconcile the feelings that you owe them something and the good memories you have with them alongside the memories of pain and abuse.  This is definitely a book that I needed to read as a child of fundamentalist parents raised on a farm and have felt the effects of that isolationism that can come with that.

Best read of the year.  I loved it so much!  

I always love a good murder mystery and this is done so very well.  A magic school with such a diverse student body in race, gender, and sexuality is sorta healing to me and this book has all of that
