This book is a journey of healing and how healing is hard and how the journey has many roadblocks in the way of that.  It’s about seeing you parents as flawed people who have harmed you and trying to reconcile the feelings that you owe them something and the good memories you have with them alongside the memories of pain and abuse.  This is definitely a book that I needed to read as a child of fundamentalist parents raised on a farm and have felt the effects of that isolationism that can come with that.
