This one is a slow-starter, but it's worth it if you stick with it! I was confused for the first 100-150 pages, but then it all started to come together and fall into place, which makes for a really rewarding reading experience.  

I enjoyed this. Kate had a distinctive voice that is all her own -- funny, witty, and brave. I really appreciated how she charts the evolution in her thinking from a more binary model of gender to something much more expansive, and how that is reflected in her own identity as well. There wasn't a lot of new information for me, because I am fairly familiar with current trans discourse, but it was interesting to see the differences between conversations on trans identity in the 90s vs. now. However, I think this could be a great primer for someone new to the subject. Heartening to see the progress we have made since then, but we still have far to go.
