hopeful informative reflective fast-paced

I bought this for Thanksgiving in my 5th grade class but to also add to my "own voices" collection of representstive literature in the room. It was a good choice!

I liked it and how mysterious it was but the writing itself was hard to follow along with. It was a bit too poetic for me to follow and I didn't really warm up to any of the characters at all because the dialogue didn't feel natural to me. Idk maybe it was intentional and I didn't grasp it.

Overall the concept was interesting. It was a slow burn but it was satisfying to have your suspicions confirmed over the course of the book.

It's so complicated but everything checks out! I love how it's all starting to really come together.

I adored this book! The world building was phenomenal, the characters were all quirky and kooky in the best way, the concept of the whole thing as a "you've got mail" deal but also wild west but modern and with zombies.... it was so whimsical and funky and charming. Just all around good stuff! This book had me laughing but also crying some sad tears. I rarely read books more than once but I'd love to start over and re-read this again right away!

I'm reading this to compare it to the anime. It's really fun to see it shot for shot and the art style is the same in both. I've learned a lot more from the manga than what the anime managed to keep in!

The book itself was so well written. I really enjoyed the dialogue and description. However, I just COULD NOT get behind the main character and final love interest. I love drama but that was too messy for me. I started off liking Feyi and in the end I thought she was naive and selfish. So we the final love interest. The ending was too neat and not believeabe after the mess that was.

I liked it well enough but I was overwhelmed by the sheer amount of characters that were introduced. The core group started to form and I could keep track but there were so many names I had to keep thinking back to figure out if they were new or someone previously introduced. I also feel like the chapters were disjointed some times with the passage of time - it just wasn't clear. But all things considered, maybe it was purposeful? The story was interesting, the imagery was gory but well written, and I thought the ending was nice. I wanted to like it more but I was just so confused half the time over where people were at a time and who they were.

I bet this book would be awesome turned into a show or movie!
