STOP GIVING THIS BOOK A BAD REP DAMNIT! it was GOOD!

really was teetering between 2 and 3 - it's a 2.5, i was expecting some suspense but it was an absolute snooze fest if i'm being honest

between 3 and 4, solid 3.5 - to be fair my expectations were super high bc of big lies in a small town (which is wonderful). it was way drier than that one and sometimes read a little slow, but i liked the main character arc

horrifying because it's a real story but ... entertaining? idk if that's the word

I wanted to like this so badly, but the writing style didn't fit for me at all. I didn't understand half of the plot (which is me not being familiar w/ the culture and myths that are discussed), but the choppy writing style made it harder for me. idk, i'm sad that i didn't like it.

omfg every time i see this cover i need to tell the person next to me to read it. this book made me ugly cry, which is honestly uncommon for me when i'm reading, but UGH. heart shredded, but topic is relevant
