I would recommend this to people who love action adventure movies, because this will turn that concept on its head.

I would recommend this for people who love to travel, because it shows you an alien planet that doesn't feel that much different than our very own.

I would recommend this to patriots and non-patriots alike, because you will find reasons to think about the concept itself.

I would recommend this to fans of alien stories, because this book is really about humanity.

In short, I recommend this for everyone.

Laugh out loud funny and achingly poignant. His frank discussions of current politics blend so well with his hilarious depictions of everyday life as an expat.

Disappointingly dull. Bierce comes across as combative and angry, and his jokes mostly attack people of his own time, leaving the modern reader bored and constantly Googling.

An adorable Beauty and the Beast retelling set in 1800s Wyoming in a town full of fairy tale characters. Heart-warming, if a bit eye-rolling. A nice fluffy read.

I picked up this book because I saw Herrera speak at the Tucson Festival of Books earlier this month, and he was wonderful. I loved the attached CD. Some of his poems are hard to get into, but I love the way he plays with language.

I wish this book had existed when I was 21 so I could have read it every year of my twenties.

Deep, dark, and depressing. An eye-opening collection of stories that I never would have picked up were it not a book club selection.
