I don't even know what I just read. This was so unintelligible that it might as well have been in a foreign language.

Bizarre and funny and touching. I loved the chapters told in quotations and the way the ghosts insisted they were merely "recovering in sick-boxes." It was all so human.

Much like the title character, this novel is gorgeous and unsettling.

Boring as hell with a supremely unsatisfying ending.

The romance was unconvincing, the characters were flat and undeveloped, the mystery was nonexistent, and the strange way every sentence sidestepped anti-Semitism made me extremely uncomfortable.

Jacobson had a few beautiful moments of clarity that I couldn't help but highlight, so I have to give it two stars, but I can't think of a single person I would recommend this to.

DID NOT FINISH

I don't know if it's the book or the audio narrating that is so boring, but I'm marking this one unfinished at 1 hour 10 minutes.

DID NOT FINISH

I read half of this and didn't laugh once.

Glenda is a witch who wants to try her hand at being a schoolgirl. Unfortunately for her classmates, she is, well, kind of a witch. I was pretty surprised that she doesn't learn any lessons at the end, but it did make me laugh that she just gets bored and decides to leave for Hawaii with her pet crow when the snow arrives.
