I put this down for a week and had zero desire to pick it back up. It was so boring. What kind of fantasy can possible draw you in when it starts with a bang, then the next part is nine years later, the next is six years later, and the next is a new character? I had hoped for some romance, but Zanja and Karis were immediately separated.

Abandoned at 31%.

Gave up at 2 hours / 15%. Very boring.

I gave up at 55% when Karamo, after sharing many, many stories in multiple chapters about how he was an abuser, relates a joke he made on The Real World about stabbing someone -- and then says, "obviously, I would never stab someone."

That's not obvious, and the casual way he said so made my stomach turn.

This book is just an unleashing of all the horrible things Karamo has done over his life, perforated with his assurances that he is not that man anymore.

He was my favorite person on Queer Eye. I wish I had never read this, because I'll never be able to look at him the same way.

I don't know if the book was really boring or the audio was really boring, but I listened to 49% of this and realized I didn't care about anything.

This was like a bingo card of things I hated.

Shaming the mother for teen pregnancy, check
Kid beats up high school bully immediately upon getting to school, check
"no one understands me even though I keep beating people up" check

This is just tortureporn.

But I would have stopped reading anyway after Rizzoli says that having a uterus is the only thing that makes you a woman.

I'm bored. Feels like I've read this same story a hundred times before. Abandoning at 29%.

I threw up in my mouth a little every time the protagonist thought about how much she loves the US. Couldn't finish.

RE: the scene where the 16 year old girl is getting ready for a date. Deodorant does not sting when applied to freshly shaved armpits. And what 16 year old girl would struggle putting on a bra? Does Soule not have a single friend with breasts or shaved armpits who would beta read for him?

I gave this to page 67 and I can't handle any more of this drivel. The only thing I hate more than guy-who-won't-stop-cheating-on-his-wife is teen-boy-who-can't-speak-around-hot-girl and this book managed both.

Got to 32% and was just so bored. The first chapter was excellent and then it just stopped working for me. I couldn't figure out why Patrick was so angry at Dom and started to think Patrick was possessed, but it turned out to be so much less interesting.
