A Marvellous Light

Freya Marske

DID NOT FINISH

I listened to the audio and I'm not 100% sure if the audio was terrible or if the book was, but I am 110% sure I am not going to finish it.

I listened to the first chapter three times and gave up and just tried to plow through, but at two hours in one of the main characters was referring to homosexuality as an abomination and I was done.

Her Heart for the Asking

Lisa Mondello

DID NOT FINISH

I can't do it. Another Mondello book where all the tension happens eight years before the start of the book, so the reader is left with another asshole man who can't take no for an answer, and another twenty something woman who can't move on. No thanks.

Coffee, Tea, or Me?: The Uninhibited Memoirs of Two Airline Stewardesses

Donald Bain, Baker Trudy, Jones Rachel

DID NOT FINISH

Very early on the authors used the f-slur and I cringed, but the book was from the 60s and while I might wish we live in a perfect world, I could move past one mistake. HOWEVER.

I read the 2003 re-release. A little updating should have been a given, and yet I found chapter after chapter of misogynistic trash. The final straw that led me to throwing this book in a recycling bin was when gay men were referred to as perverts. I can't believe people ever thought this kind of thing was funny.

Uprooted

Naomi Novik

DID NOT FINISH

I gave up at 10% when the main character defended herself from sexual assault and the male main character proceeded to victimblame her and critique her outfit instead of making sure she was okay or apologizing for not protecting her.

All the Truth That's In Me

Julie Berry

DID NOT FINISH

Incredibly boring start with an insipid character voice. I read the spoilers and am thoroughly uninterested in finishing.
