This was so bad it was almost worth reading but I abandoned it at 34%. You cannot expect me to believe that anyone drinks Jack Daniel's on the rocks, especially a man who is as posh as I'm supposed to believe Thierry is. But the two unbelievably terrible sex scenes were what made me give up.
Self-important boomer tells boring stories about his "back in my day" life.
Absolutely nothing happened until page 112 and what did happen wasn't enough to keep me reading.
Rose dies in a car accident and from what I can see from the rest of the reviews, it's just a sad book from that point on, and I'm not real interested in a book that is half fluff and half pathos
This was so bad I gave up a third of the way through. I can only assume based on the text that Harold Robbins never met a woman. And if he did ever meet one, I can only offer them my condolences.
Graphic: Sexual assault
An old book from a college class on Robin Hood that isn't super readable.
Giving up at 8%. It wasn't a bad book, just not for me. If I'm going to read a mob story I require banter and hijinks and this book does not appear to know the definition of either of those words.
Me: Have you read anything by Alma Katsu?
My sister: Yeah, she wrote that book about the Donner party that was so boring. How do you even make a book about the Donner party boring?
Me: I started one that's supposed to be a horror novel but so far it is just so boring. I don't even know if I want to finish it.
My sister: I wouldn't. *shrug*
And I believe her. Abandoned at 13% after reading the Wikipedia plot synopsis and I have no regrets.

I really tried to like this since it came so highly recommended, but it was just so dull. Gave up at 31%.
I hope to god that I never meet a man who thinks women think and act like they do in this book.
