Our two supposed heroes lollygagged around being boring and British for nearly four hours of this audiobook and I stuck around in hopes it would somehow still live up to the hype. But I gave up when Dexter told Emma he wanted to sleep with her but only because they were on vacation and they couldn't tell his girlfriend. That is NOT the makings of a romance I want any part in.
The historical setting is lackluster, the plot is yawn-inducing, and the narrator is dull as dishwater. Abandoned at 18%.
I'm tired of stories that include SA for shock value.
I'm tired of stories where the abuse takes up pages for "character building" but the character doesn't deal with the trauma because the author added it to make their story grittier.
I'm tired of stories where I'm in constant fear for the character getting SAed.
And I'm tired of these being billed as love stories.
I'm so very, very tired.

DNF at 21%. Too painfully dull in the way that only YA that promises to be thrilling can be . . .
I made it 22 minutes in before the ick got too strong. I did some googling to find out why, and this article says it best. I have no interest in finishing this.

Nonsensical, nonlinear, dull. Gave up at 31%.
I just want one apocalyptic novel without a graphic attempted rape or rape scene. Please.
What a joke. I made it 30 minutes into the audiobook (about 5%) and if I took a drink every time Cline made an 80s reference, I would already be dead.
I already disliked the narrator and her mom, but the final straw for me is when she is physically fighting both of her parents (seriously, what the fuck) and her mom says that Zauner was such a bad child that her mom had an abortion. This is not the book for me.
