This book is definitely bizarre but is so beautifully written. The stories it tells are fascinating and the way they are put together is lovely.

I have never been nor ever will be in a cave, but this book made me understand why someone would.

I will proudly admit that I purchased this book for title alone, having no idea what the story was about. Surprise comes to mind having finished it, but the delighted surprise of finding forgotten cookie dough in the freezer or $20 in a coat pocket.

This book holds one of the best descriptions of love I’ve come across. Kevin Wilson does a great job creating this small Tennessee world and welcoming the reader into it.

My enjoyment of this book was limited because of the writing style and some personal beef I have with content elements. However, it calls itself a mandate for radical movements, and it is exactly that. Carruthers, I think, successfully conveyed what she planned to, with an argumentative style that is brusque but effective.

Whatever lessons Steinbeck hoped to be drawn from The Pearl were pulled into the vacuum where insight and worth ought to have been. As a mandatory middle school read, it was a poor introduction to Steinbeck, and now it reads as a poor condemnation of greed.

I’m glad I found out that the show is based off of a book before watching it. This book was so well executed that I wouldn’t dream of watching the show now. The War of the Roses fascinated me as a child and I couldn’t have asked for a more captivating vision of the time than this one.

This book was definitely harder to get through a second time. I noticed numerous instances of repetition that I hadn’t previously noticed, and some grammatical errors. The history it contains is valuable and the sources extensive, but I’m disappointed that it is not as diverting as I remembered.

This book was a joy to read, with a plot that twisted just the right amount and detailed descriptions that created a beautiful, vivid world.

It took me a while to get into the book because I’m not a fan of the author’s extensive use of fictional colloquialisms. The world building, vivid character descriptions and heart breaking plot won me over in the end. The book is great!
