An incredible improvement over the first in terms of everything, and sorry the incest is so out of pocket it just makes me laugh. the fact clary and jace kiss and seemingly fancy each other and nobody gives af cracks me up so bad like that is not normal behaviour!

Easily the best book in the trilogy, this introduces the best side characters in the series, has a road trip vibe that really works with both plot and characters, expands the world greatly and dodges second book syndrome. I would read the trilogy just for this book.

(A reread) I definitely enjoyed this more the first time at 14, but that doesn't mean it's bad by any stretch, Gillian Flynn does an amazing job of setting up Amy and making Nick a deeply unlikeable person and husband. Ngl I'm kinda glad someone put him through the wringer.
