This was incredible- Butler has such a way of making you care about characters and then pulling the most gut wrenching shit you've ever heard immediately afterwards. I love how she paints this version of America, it feels like a living thing and it was so interesting. Loved Lauren, can't wait to continue.

What a weird ass, enjoyable ride. Dexter is an insane POV to read through, very lyrical and weirdly funny. Side character were good and i'm excited to see where Deb and Doakes go in the books. Will say the plot was just ok, I do hope we see more Brian in the future.

This is most certainly a book I read! It starts so strong and then after the 30% mark or so just flaps about like a dying fish until it ends- I felt as though the book fired the gun too quick (pun intended) when if paced better this could have been truly excellent.

I liked Maggie and Wes well enough as well as their dynamic even if elements of it annoyed me at points (I hate when authors just throw another person in there so one half of the duo can be jealous, just takes away from what the main element of the book is supposed to be.) However I will say I found them a little repetitive at times?

World building was great however as well as the proses.

Man, this was a rollercoaster- Jennette is a fantastic writer and I hope sincerely that she enjoyed the process of writing this book and would want to have a full career in it, what a talent! Sad and intense, this really is so effective at painting what her life/career was like, as well as how her mother puppeteered her whole life.

Never in my life have I almost cried at every chapter of a book before. Beautiful, incredibly relevant and moving. I resonated with Bitter so much, she was so realistic and it makes some of her actions in Pet make so much more sense, it was such a pleasure to view this world through her eyes. Once again the "angel" designs and actions were fantastic and I love how different they are to Pet. This was amazing and i'll be thinking about it for a while.

What the fuck. This was too good, Gillian Flynn writes such wonderful fucked up women and dynamics. Adored this, southern gothic to the max.

Oh this ate down- super twisty and the final plot twist???? Oh I was aghast. Moriguchi I will be thinking about you for the rest of my life. Really interesting characters and the story pacing and plotting was really, really well done. Prose was a little simple at points but I don't think that's the authors fault but the translators.

What the fuck. What the actual fuck. June Hayward is one of the hard protagonists i've ever had the displeasure of being in the head of- what a fucking cunt (positive). I love an unlikeable protagonist but fuck me there is something so awfully real about June, people like her genuinely exist. Just, bleh. The fact her big final stand comes from the fact she feels persecuted for being white says it all really.

Can't say much about the publishing stuff because I don't work in the industry but jesus christ. Also everyone says this is funny but I didn't laugh at all 😭😭 still great (better than Babel but you didn't hear that from me.)
