Excellent conclusion to an excellent series, loved everybody's arc and ending- Taryn finally redeemed herself and I love Grima Mog, a real one in the face of many unreal ones.

Loved Carden and Jude's story and i'm happy they're together.

It also
doesn't have Locke in it so that makes it the best book LMFAO

This was a great sequel, just as layed and interesting as the first, even if I found it hard to read at points because I don't like bad things happening to Jude.

Jude was great as always, making reasonable mistakes and great victories and her relationship with Carden evolved in such a fascinating way that I was cheering and dreading any scene with them. His development is great and complex too.

Fuck Locke, and especially fuck Taryn.

Taryn is so much worse than Jude (yet still believes herself to be better because she doesn't like bloodshed like Madoc, yet she schemes just as much if not more so than Jude) and Jude has actively killed like 5 people. I understand completely why she did it, but the fact she demands to be forgiven when she's half the reason Jude was hurt so badly by Locke sucks so bad- Jude wouldn't have had it easy anyway but she done nothing to help her when she could have. Jude said it best, "I understand why he picked her over me. I just wish she had picked me over him."

Taryn doesn't understand that she can't be Fae, something Jude gets completely, and it makes her a worse person for it.

The explanation she's trying to make is all "me me me" while misunderstanding that Jude knows her own flaws and doesn't need Taryn of all people to point them out (which she does a lot in this, like girl maybe don't try and say "see we do the same things i'm not that bad").

This is what YA should be- excellently written with a great, non contrived plot set in a land with great characters and world building.

Jude is a beyond fantastic MC and I love that she's almost a genuinely bad person while still feeling like a good one, and Carden is almost a good person while feeling like a bad one. Their dynamic was flawless and I cannot wait to see how it develops.

Really every character decision feels real here and Madoc in particular is very complex.

All the twists worked and the world itself felt like a Fae fairytale.

Fuck Taryn tho and Locke. Especially Locke actually.

Really loved the addition of Maddy and Mia, Lou's nieces and the new cats- mystery was a little weaker here but still entertaining.

A really great sequel- found the mystery more compelling here and love love love Lou and Willow- cats are a good bonus too and I love mysteries thay centre around bad people. Prose was simple and a little repetitive at times but it works with a simple yet charming book like this.

This was very sweet! Loved the focus on female friendships and thought the mystery was compelling enough- it also helps that I love cats and bookshops.
