This is one of the strongest debut novels i've ever read. Sprawling and lovely and devastating, I enjoyed this immensely.

Asha is easily one of my favourite female protagonists and Obi reminds me so much of the 10th Doctor I can't help but love him, we don't get as much of Xavior but what we did get I liked.

Plot was great but i'll admit there were some (tiny) plot holes and time travel is almost always confusing so I don't blame anyone for that.

Reminded me so much of the Broken Earth trilogy at points (which is one of the best fantasy stories to exist) and I loved every moment, cannot wait for book 2!

I'm sorry but these will never be the Twisted books, loved the angst tho.

I've decided to give every book 3 chapters, this did not make the cut.

This was gorgeous. I'm almost without the words to use as to how good this really is, what a fucking story. Heart rending and beyond moving, this was beautiful in a way I haven't experienced.

This is an incredible finale holy hell. What a brilliant culmination of everything this story's been about, Amon's thinking STILL influencing everyone (and him calling out to his dad I could kill myself), Kaneki meeting Hide, doing something awful to him and the whole sequence with Arima was so beautiful, I love the genuine respect Arima seemed to have for Kaneki. ALSO UTA BEING ONE OF THE CLOWNS HELLO??????????? And Akira crying for Seido and Amon what if I died. Kaneki trying so hard to reject his mother ended up dying in the exact same way :( what a story man.

I don't have too much to say here as this is the beginning of the end but man, absolute peak volume.

Man this volume is jam packed, Yomo backstory, the CCG being mysterious af, Rize and Yomo??? The One Eyed Owl backstory, Touka beating the shit out Kaneki making him realise he wants to go back, the CCG discovering Anteiku. Favourite moment was Amon giving Akira that little keychain, the parallel with Kaneki giving Touka the little rabbit one.

This has so much going on and I think it balances it quite well, from Kaneki losing his shit (very clever use of dialogue here) and realising he's more confused than he thought, to Amon fighting Kaneki and having a callback to volume 3's fight, his relationship with Akira growing (him saying he'll help her no matter what, even if she hates him GOD) Akira being hella funny, hints at Juzo backstory. Also the Cafe not being what it seems????? Man I love this story 😭
