This is my favorite book since the first one, and it didn't even have Jack in it. I do kinda wish Cora got a book where she was in Trenches, though. I'd love to read that one.
I also somehow found Regan more interesting here than in her own book, so this made up for the previous one for me.

Graphic: Fatphobia
Moderate: Suicide attempt
The main character is fat and there's a lot of discussion about the fatphobia she's experienced. There is also mentions of a suicide attempt my attempted drowning.
I liked this better the second time, because reading the later books explains why this one ends as abruptly as it does. Poor Regan.
I was never much into horses as a kid, so that part is lost on me, but the society of centaurs and other species and their need (?) for a human is interesting.

Welp, I'm back to reading Seanan books in one sitting. I guess the first one didn't pull me in so much because it was a bunch of separate stories, but now we're back to one story that doesn't let me go until it's gone.

Gold stars for Rose and the Crossroads ghosts. I'm not sold on Gary though - this 'the first boy I loved when I was 16 will be with me forever' thing might be romantic if I found him interesting, but I don't (yet).

reread 2024 April - Toby was so, so alone and depressed in book 1, and now she has so much family that she needs three buses (metaphorically) to take them to her wedding, and she gets to threaten her little brother to tattle on him to their father who will tell their mother (no not that one).

This was a really fun short read with a nonbinary protagonist, about traveling through dimensions and also about learning to be friends after a break-up. I liked it a lot.
Minor: Gore, Transphobia
There is mentioned misgendering, and one character avoiding pronouns entirely instead of using "they" for one of the main characters.

I love Murderbot so much. Seeing how bots communicate with each other and with other humans in a free environment was the best part about this book. Also, Murderbot dealing with humans not trusting it, and (gasp) humans trusting it.
Graphic: Murder
Moderate: Gun violence
