Antsy probably has the darkest backstory so far, although Cora is a good contender. This book is, in several ways, about how children can't always trust adults.
The shop of lost things is very interesting though, I love it as a concept. Also, it's interesting that Rowena (?) from the last book sort of "foreshadowed" Antsy's situation. Poor girls.
