I think I'm done with this series. I spent most of this book skimming and it's just meh.

1. I know Ria is 16, but this book is for adults, so her teenage selfishness and drama gets old.
2. It feels like the Ria-Kova relationship is going in circles. Betrayal, then they fuck anyway, then there's angst again, then they fuck again...
3. What really did it for me was the way they dragged out the diagnosis for this whole fucking book. We find out there is something seriously wrong with Ria's health early on, but then she keeps dodging calls from the doctors and never calling back. I couldn't even focus on the romance because I was just frustrated by how she doesn't give a fuck about her health.
4. And it seems the next book will be even MORE of Ria not giving a fuck about her health, so I'm just like, not in the mood.

This book throws a twist at you in the last third that takes it from eery to horrifying. I have not recovered. But also, so good.

I received an advance reader's copy for free and this review is my honest opinion.

This was a wonderful fairy story. I love all the rules and games and trickery that come with involving fae, and I loved Winifred as the main character. The governess who can't stand children, and who is much more equipped for this mystery than we'd think.

I also just really love Mr Quincy.

That being said, I think the trigger warning at the beginning understates the scenes. The sexual harassment of the child ended up being more explicit than I anticipated based on that (there is kissing involved).

This was so good.

The Crane Moon Cycle: An LGBTQ Epic Fantasy Duology

I like this book, but it's just too slow-paced for me and doesn't hold my attention. It would be great for people who like slow-paced queer epic fantasy with past lives and reincarnation. You get a F/F and a M/M ship for the price of one!

This book was pure magic. The descriptions are lyrical, and the magic is everywhere, in the redwoods and the water and the earth all around. I love how all the girls are witches in their own way, but Danny's power and her searching is the best of all.

Also, this book is just really, really delightfully sapphic. And the final twist is darker than I expected.

This was pretty philosophical, but very interesting.

I received an advance reader's copy for free in exchange for an honest review.

A quick and thrilling read, full of myth and magic and the sea. Lily and Jaq are lovers, two of many women sailing aboard the mysterious ship called the Scylla, in an endless present without any memory of their pasts.

I loved how the story and the nature of the women aboard the Scylla gradually came to light. I wasn't particularly fond of Jaq, but the book had a really immersive style, and Jaq's possessive desire for Lily drives the story. The ending was unexpected and truly chilling.

Also, Yinka is just the best.
