this was heavy.

1) not really a fan of werewolf power plays, posturing and possessiveness. i heard that it will get better later and i hope they're right because it was kind of getting too much.

2) major warning for on-page sexual assault, and mentioned past CSA. but the worst thing was the aftermath. having the assault be so public and be seen  by so many people is horrifying.

Stefan is my blorbo and he is the best and I love him and Mercy shouldn't be angry with him T_T

Writing-wise, this book was great. But wow, it made me so mad. Korede deserves better.

Man, being a werewolf in this world sounds like it sucks. Just too many options to die or lose control.

Stefan is great I love he.

I just hope Mercy will get some women in her circle in the future. It sucks that all the female wolves hate her for no good reason, and all her contacts and close friends seem to be male.

i can finally say honestly that i gave this series a chance.

this first book was okay. not too bad, but it also didn't convince me to read more, especially with all that i've heard about the later books. the Straight Guy Vibes were definitely visible. also, maybe the murders are a bit more gruesome and sexualized than I like.

A fantastic light-hearted romcom with a lot of death jokes. Benji is my little meowmeow and I love him so much. I also liked all the references to other contemporary writers (like Courtney Milan, N.K. Jemisin, Casey McQuinston and more), even if it "dates" the book.

CW for grief and death of parent being a central theme of the book, including some descriptions of dead bodies in a funeral home sense.
