This book is probably the strongest of King's Hard Case Crime entries. It mixes his talent for horror with rough modern crime instead of the long ago mysteries of the first two entries.
This book similar to the other two is written from a modern narrator looking back at the past. As a boy that sees ghosts, Jamie already has a difficult life only increased by domestic issues.
This book is interesting and keeps you engaged as multiple crimes occur throughout. The book throws the reader for a loop at the very end (after the main crime is handled).
One issue for me was King's odd use of sexuality and sexual activity. It seems out of place almost since the man is talking back to his childhood, but it doesn't seem to serve a point.
