I thought the first half of the book was setting up for the strongest of the series, but the second half of the book seemed so implausible that it almost ruined it. Overall it was still a really interesting story and it was well written, I just was not a fan of "the twist". It did wrap up some loose ends that fans of the trilogy will appreciate.

Pros:
- Pip continues to be a strong and capable MC while still being flawed
- Realistic rep of struggles dealing with trauma
- Interesting case

Cons:
- The wrap up was so specific and "perfect" that it just seemed unrealistic
-

The Science of Monsters: the Origins of the Creatures We Love to Fear

Matt Kaplan

DID NOT FINISH: 22%

The book was entertaining but the author took the theories too far. It moved away from science into random guesses to what someone could have seen at a distance and thought it was a monster.
