I was really really confused for the first third or so of this one, but as the plot continued and the details emerged things made more sense. A really unique (and weird) mystery/suspense book.

I feel like a weird person for having enjoyed this so immensely, but perhaps my weird feelings are exactly why this book exists. Caitlin Doughty gives different examples of burial and end of life practices from countries across the globe which illustrate how different cultures think of and treat death, which is often quite different from the sterile euphemism of the western death industry. Her writing will have you experiencing a full range of emotions as she tells stories of various individuals and their experience with death in the context of their own cultural history and practice.

Adorable!

This book is ALL Tiffany, especially on audio! She gets into the deep painful stuff, as well as funny anecdotes from her life.

First of all, Jami Attenberg is an amazing writer. Andrea felt so real, and so realistic and her complexities seemed true to life, brilliantly captured on the page. But dang, did I hate her for the first 3/4 of this book! (A true testament to the author's skill, really.) But once we get closer to the end, having spent quite some time with Andrea, she grows on us.

Quite weird, with violent undercurrents.
