i have a lot of respect for this book. it was written very well, and the interconnections between just about every character in this book were interesting. knocked off a star because the amount of characters could get very confusing. but over all this was very very good

i wanted to enjoy this book :/ instead, it feels like a book that was extremely dated (in a not-so-good way) the day it released. mostly by meme references (as someone who is gen z, i am spiritually begging authors to stop referencing memes in their ya novels). a few examples:
•an animal is referred to as a “chonky boi”.
•
a character named karen who is a jerk. the karen meme is referenced.
•there is, quite literally, an ok boomer scene. if you’ve read this book, you know what i’m talking about.
there’s more i could say, but this is pretty much it. it’s a book that was dated by the day it was published (also, at least for me, i couldn’t root for any of the characters. disliked all of them).

man, the ‘60s were weird.

heard about the whole Dolphin House experiment mentioned in passing on a podcast i like, so when i saw this at the library, it seemed interesting enough to learn more about. i liked this over all. definitely plan to learn more about the actual scientific/historical event of this.

this book just really wasn’t working for me. feel like i had a different idea of what the story would be, from the synopsis and cover :/
