i wanted to enjoy this book :/ instead, it feels like a book that was extremely dated (in a not-so-good way) the day it released. mostly by meme references (as someone who is gen z, i am spiritually begging authors to stop referencing memes in their ya novels). a few examples:
•an animal is referred to as a “chonky boi”.
• a character named karen who is a jerk. the karen meme is referenced.
•there is, quite literally, an ok boomer scene. if you’ve read this book, you know what i’m talking about.
there’s more i could say, but this is pretty much it. it’s a book that was dated by the day it was published (also, at least for me, i couldn’t root for any of the characters. disliked all of them).
