i think this book is a lovely resource, but for me (i’ve known i’m ace for several years at this point), it’s just repeating things i already know.
life is simply too short to read a book you don’t like for fun
first time i’ve read something by ta-nehisi coates. incredible author, this book is incredible, the writing is amazing, i really want you to read this
i liked this, but it’s very difficult to take a book about fatherhood with an antagonist named Kinder Garten seriously
i kinda love going back to middle grade now and again to see how it’s doing. this is a great example of how good it can be :)
i loved this (but i love pretty much anything hanna alkaf writes, so that’s no surprise).
just a really sweet and solid story about friendship that incorporates Malaysian mythology in some really cool ways

feels like i haven’t written a review in forever, im out of practice lmao
i thought this was an extremely interesting book. i knew the very basics of labor history (basically the extent of my knowledge was “unions exist and are good”), but pretty much everything in this book i didn’t know at all previously. i liked the structure of it!! having it structured as multiple essays under each category of worker helped it flow really well and keep from it from getting dry.
my only complaint is that the middle dragged a bit, it felt like some of the essays were either too short or too long. but it picked back up by the end :)

this was much more cozy and romance-focused than i expected (and more than i would expect, given the overarching plot of the RC coming to the moon, with them having killed Faraday ). i also felt like i was kept at arms length from any of the characters, and couldn’t get attached to any of them (even Lane). if you like cozy books, you might vibe with this, but i definitely did not
perfectly respectable little ya romance. enemies to lovers is almost never my cup of tea, but in this book i think it was done well (and the characters actually had understandable reasons for being enemies).
fun read, love books where the parents learn to be less homophobic👍👍i love living vicariously

the book-ification of high school theater-kid energy in the best way possible
i really enjoyed this, ngl i think this was the time in my life where i needed a book like this. definitely check content warnings before reading though cause this got more intense than i expected with the transphobia towards the main character
