loved this :) reminded me a lot of the graphic novel Shubeik Lubeik, with the whole “our world but with this big magical industry” vibe (which i love immensely).
what i really would’ve wanted from this is a little more worldbuilding. how does the magical girl union actually work? are there magical girls in other countries or just South Korea?
anyway, loved the notes at the end from the translator and illustrator (the illustrations were awesome)

this was amazing. i love the world that robin wall kimmerer believes can happen and i want it to be our world already
from the description, i hadn’t expected this book to be quite as economics-heavy as it was. not bad, just different from what I expected lol (it was also nice to get a full explainer of the great recession in 2008, given that i was a toddler in 2008).
the pop culture pieces of this were absolutely my favorite, i thought they were really well explained. i was born in the mid 2000s, so i know that era feels recent for many people but not for me. so it was cool to see a book about the trends, events, and what happened in the Y2K era.

gonna have to read either digital or physical for this. the audiobook has a very weird bell ding sound effect between what feels like every single paragraph, and i’m not gonna be able to deal with that for an 11 hour book
not particularly deep, but incredibly entertaining (this may just be because i think books about rich people drama are hilarious).
i thought the narration was done pretty well (especially the kid voices!! they weren’t cringy!!)
all in all, fun chill read. had to work on some digital art and clean my bedroom so i listened to the second half of this while doing both of those, and it held my attention the whole time.
aspen and meredith are both so annoying but i kinda love them

i thought this was a super interesting take on cli-fi :D the romance went a little fast for me though, and i wish Ray had had more of a personality.
really loved the portrayal of being disabled in an abled family honestly. im also the only disabled person in my family and, while they’ve always been so much better than Thea’s parents in this book, how her experience was written still hit hard

the first half was quite boring but the second half was lovely :)
this book didn’t have quite the charm of the first two in the trilogy, but i still wholeheartedly love the Emily Wilde series <3

incredible premise, but not executed super great (i still liked it though)
the different guilds being named after animals came off kind of silly, especially with the fact that the enemies-to-lovers are... a Hound and a Cat. idk but that kept wildly pulling me out of the story with how silly it was. also man i needed a glossary for all these characters
HOWEVER the entire premise of "time loop party that gets weirder and weirder the farther down into the alternate universes they go?"?? i love that so much. literally one of the coolest fantasy worlds i've ever seen. i'll probably read the sequel just for the world. although i am begging that the sequel mentions Kem and Rika being a Hound and a Cat at least a little bit less. i am on my knees please don't mention it so much it does not work with the tone of the book

me when im on a lovely journey with my friends
i’m not sure if this comparison will make sense to anyone but myself, but what Teller of Small Fortunes reminds me of most is season 1 of OFMD (which says a lot, considering how close OFMD is to my heart). the banter, the found family, just everything (it helps that in every scene with Silt i was picturing him as Frenchie)
Mash my guy. my beloved. my darling

gonna be honest, i never would have expected to love this as much as i did. i dnf’ed the only other ava reid book i’ve tried and only got this because it was available at my library and i was curious, but man this was a banger. it felt like a queer version of the ya dystopian books i would devour a few years ago.
i just loved everything about this— the characters, the worldbuilding, the ENDING (i love bittersweet endings man they’re amazing), the writing and pacing— i sped through this each time i picked it up and it was amazing.
