2.5/5: i need to give up on jason june bc her writing style is just not for me and i just dont care about the characters or plot however i really enjoyed the fat rep and sex positivity

- ive said it before and i'll say it again, nina lacour books feel the way phoebe bridger's music sounds
- i feel like this has been super mismarketed as a romance when the main characters didnt meet until halfway through the book and even then spent barely any on page time together (not to say that their moments together weren't great)
- really i feel like it's about two women separately figuring out their own lives and then how those lives learn to intertwine
- nina lacour really GETS the norcal coast vibe like seriously her books comfort me so much just in the vibe

reached a turning point about 65% though that i was worried was going to be the end and i was SO happy that the story went further than i expected or would've expected from other YA authors

8/10/22: finally 5 stars!!!!! didn't realize until this read how much i relate to chloe (not just bc of the chronic illness) and i finally get the hype for red morgan omg

such a good YA omg absolutely loved the cosplay stuff and it got me in a really creative mood, LOVED the second chance romance, and there was no awful teen-speak

sobbing
