i never rate short story collections but this was SO GOOD that i can't not seriously every story i was invested in and ive never read a collection that was connected not just by the event but by characters and a unifying party every person is heading towards so basically READ THIS!!!!
- WOW I DIDN'T SEE THE ENDING COMING
- i basically read the entire thing in one day once i got into it
- reading this at the same time as watching AHS asylum was really trippy

4.5/5:
- i liked this a lot more than conventionally yours!!!
- friends to not friends to friends to lovers gives so much more yearning and emotional tension
- romances that are built off of a preexisting relationship >>>
- slightly spoilery but ive been so sick of romances creating this third act drama that causes the couple to break up and get back together in the last chapter but it's so refreshing to see people work their problems out!!! the communication and communication about lack of communication kept them from dumb break ups and that's why i gave it an extra .5 tbh

really good!!! finished it in less than a day & i have never been more glad to be a low achieving soon-to-be community college student
-hmm i liked the characters and their dynamics fine but once i figured the mystery out halfway through it got kinda boring
-i think cooper could've been developed a little more and i would've liked to see his internalized homophobia addressed/confronted by the end
-was hoping for more of a thriller or for the mystery of it all to be more present in their lives than the police investigation and public's reactions
-ngl simon's death scene made me wish i looked at tws bc im terrified of severe allergic reactions + anaphylaxis and i wouldn't wish that kind of experience on anyone
-idk i was just expecting more from this considering how hyped it is but a few years ago i might've liked it
-excited for the tv show though!

TW'S: anti-Black racism, microaggressions, violence, gun violence, school shooting, suicide, attempted rape, homophobia, internalized homophobia, bullying, child abuse
i really enjoyed but it was a LOT darker than i thought it would be so beware of content warnings

3.5/5: maybe this just wasn't what i was expecting or i was just underwhelmed
3.5/5
hm i liked it but i feel like nothing happened, it could've been a hundred pages shorter, and there needed to be more resolution at the end. also maybe it's just been too long since i read tfk (which i enjoyed so much more) but this felt really disjointed
