oh my god ... i knew this was gonna be good but i did not know it was gonna be THIS good holy shit! i actually watched the series when it came out and i had forgotten a few things that happened but i remembered the key points that did happen HOWEVER i was still shocked when i read them in the book? it was reliving the story for the first time again oh my god i have no words honestly i already put her other books in my amazon cart

I feel like the story was a bit unfocused and all over the place. Sometimes the characters felt extremely relatable and at others they felt so forced. I think I just got really hyped about this book and it ended up falling a bit short, however, I still did have a good time reading it.

It does really pick up in the second half but even then I still felt like it was a chore sometimes to get through it. I don't know if it was my edition but the text was also extremely small like smaller than standard adult novels and I felt like that added to the chore that it felt like sometimes. It did put me in a bit of a slump but I finished finally and ready to tackle some damn books!!

I started this book really enjoying it and really getting into the story but as it progressed it got more confusing to follow but also more boring. I started to lose interest in the character and his real life and his life on the ship. I ended up just reading a summary of what happens in the end because I could not sit through another page of this story.
Maybe I read it at the wrong time or this book and style just is not for me but I did not enjoy it.

Obviously not meant to be a serious book but it doesn't give enough backstory before jumping right into the action. The characters feel undeveloped and about 80% in I just got bored of all the action.
I didn't care at all for the writing style I feel like it could have been made more interesting but it was still really amazing to get to learn more about River Phoenix.
This is one of the most beautiful books I have ever read and it's so simple that the messages just come off better and stronger. I can see myself rereading this very often.
