It does really pick up in the second half but even then I still felt like it was a chore sometimes to get through it. I don't know if it was my edition but the text was also extremely small like smaller than standard adult novels and I felt like that added to the chore that it felt like sometimes. It did put me in a bit of a slump but I finished finally and ready to tackle some damn books!!
