Words cannot describe how much I adore this book. Rebecca Yarros has given us another masterpiece that I absolutely devoured. The cliffhanger is horrible. Ridoc is the funniest person in the world. I have so many questions. I can’t wait to find out what happens next.

What a wonderful little novella. The romance is lovely, but the true joy of it comes from the examination of life and death and how far one will go to keep those you love safe, even if you can’t keep them close.

This is, by far, the best book I’ve read in a long, long time. It’s easy to get through, and comforting like drinking a hot tea under the covers on a cold day. I think I am a better person for having read this book. I hope that everyone else will find a similar joy and calm that I experienced with it.

So, so good, but it has truly one of the worst cliffhangers I think I’ve ever encountered. Taking away a half star because said cliffhanger makes it feel unfinished. I’m happy to have another book to read, though!

I completely devoured this book. I love the concept and the worldbuilding. It’s all so well done. Also love the main character’s name 😅
The reviews I read were GLOWING. And I can’t even make it fifty pages into the book. The worldbuilding was messy and sort of just thrown out there without giving you any time to understand what was happening. But really, the fact that there were cars and guns mentioned in the first couple of chapters was almost enough to make me stop altogether. And so many colloquialisms that take me out of the supposed “fantasy” world. Maybe I’ll try this again one day, but for now, I simply can’t do it.

I’m not going to get this duology out of my mind for a long time. Wow. Though I can’t stress enough, this isn’t a romance series. There’s love and pairings, but it’s first and foremost a fantasy series that is propelled by love. Maybe that’s what romantasy is, though. I don’t know. I read these two in as many days and I’m sad it’s done.
